Walter Baskerville was an illegitimate son of Thomas Baskerville of Pontrilas, Herefordshire. His grandfather was Sir Walter Baskerville of Eardisley, Herefordshire.[1][2][3][4][5]

His year of birth is unknown and is estimated as c 1525.

[According to Genealogics[6] who referred to Bartrum, his mother may have been Mawd ferch Richard Hir ap Dafydd ap John Gôch.]

Walter was the Executor of the will of his cousin Sir James Baskerville of Eardisley, Herefordshire, the will made on 18 Aug 1572 and proved on 10 Feb 1573/1574[7] in which he was referred to as Walter Baskervile of Pontryles esq. Walter's wife was recorded as Jane.

He married Jane/Johanna Monington, daughter of Richard Monington Esq. of Westhide, Herefordshire.[2][3][4][8]

Summary of the Will of Walter Baskerville Esq 1587

In his will dated 21 Sep 1587 and proved 17 Nov 1587 he was recorded as Walter Baskervile of Pontrilas in the County of Herefordshire, Esquire.[10] His will was to be buried in the parish church of "Keynchurche" [Kentchurch].

He referred to Indentures made between the Testator and Humfrye Baskervile Esqr in consideration of marriage already solemnised between the Testator's son and heir James Baskervile and Sibbill his wife.
