William was born on 29 AUG 1862 in Ohio, the son of Alpine McGregor Matheny and Elizabeth Reed.

He died on 15 JAN 1919 in Hood River, Wasco County, Oregon.

He had two marriages/partners. His first wife was Mattie Leeper, who he married on 1 JAN 1889 in Noble County, Indiana. Their only known child was Jesse Henry (1889-1964).

His second wife was Addie Mae Howell, who he married in ABT 1892. The place has not been found.
