Walter was born on 20 JUL 1866 in Dalrymple, Ayrshire, the son of George Jaap and Jean Armour.

He died in 1950 in Kirkintilloch.

His wife was Margaret Montgomery, who he married in 1890. The place has not been found. Their five known children were Janet (1892-1954), Jean Armour (1894-1969), George (1896-1918), Mary (1899-1981) and James (1904-1976).
