Bernard was born on 4 SEP 1896 in Mineral Point, Iowa County, Wisconsin, the son of Johannes Norman and Katherine Kemmerling.

He died in AUG 1983 in Pembroke Pines, Broward County, Florida.

His wife was Marie Josephine Kennedy, who he married on 12 JUN 1918 in St.. Mary's, Rockford, Winnebago County, Illinois. Their five known children were Kathryn Marie (1919-1990), Elizabeth Phyllis (1921-?), Bernard John (1929-2017), Dorothy Jane (1931-1932) and Patricia Anne (1934-1988).

!P: Bernard graduated from elementary school in Mineral Point, Wisconsin. He became the General Foreman fo J. I. Case Company in Rockford, and retained that position for forty five years. Bernard enjoyed music and other fine arts, especially painting [his hobby].
