Notes

Note 1

!Notes: Emigrated to Ashland, Pennsylvania at about nineteen years of age, with his younger brother John. His Uncle Nocholas Graeber [A[13]] was a taylor there, and his Uncle Conrad Graeber [A7] was a businessman in Shamokin. Bernard stayed in Ashland and worked in the coal mines nearby, while his brother continued on to Wisconsin.

!P: Bernard worked in mines for about ten years before he was killed there. According to a letter written to his brother John after his death, Bernard had been saving his money for a visit home to Spiesen. the writer spoke of Bernard's fine clothes, especially a coat for which he had paid thirteen dollars! There was also a watch, which was to be saved for John.

!P: A photograph taken in Prussia showed Bernard in the uniform of the Prussian Army. Lettering on the bottom reads, "B.Ollig", and "St..Jngbert".
