He served as a Justice of the Peace and was closely associated with Chatsworth [before the Cavendishes]. His involvement strongly suggests the land was in the Scarsdale Hundred [which includes Chesterfield and Ashover].

2. The Hoggekynsons [Hodgkinson]: This family was heavily established in Ashover. In fact, the Hodgkinson family eventually became the owners of The Overton Hall estate in Ashover, which sits adjacent to lands historically called "The Lowe."
