!Notes: Arthur Jean Hotchkiss was born at Burlingame, Osage County, Kansas, the 26th of December 1937, the son of Alice and James Hotchkiss. He graduated from Wichita East High School, in 1956. He was a student at Friends University at Wichita, Kansas for 1956/1957, and at Wichita University for 1958/1959. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps during the summer of 1959. He was sent to the Marine Corps Base at Camp Pendleton, California 92055, the nearest city being Oceanside, California.

He remained at Los Angeles, California, and worked at a bank in Pasadena, California. He became acquanted with another employee of the bank named Arline Wiles, whom he later married. She was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada the 22 Mar. 1937. Arlines mother had a brother living in Los Angeles named Mickey Walker, who was middle weight boxing champion in the 1930's. Arline lived with this uncle for a while when she first came from Vancouver to Los Angeles. Later she moved to Pasadena.

Arthur and Arline were married at the Presbyterian Church in Pasadena the 10 Jun 1961. They had two children Laura and Leslie. Laura was actually Arline's child whom Arthur adapted. They were divorced by 1967.

Arthur Jean graduated from the Police Academy at Los Angeles, California in 1962. He served the Los Angeles Police department in many capacities including: detective in the Child Abuse Department, and Detective III in charge of South West L.A. He retired from the department in about 1986. While with the department Art attended College and graduated 4 Sep 1982 from California State University, Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Arts in Politacal Science.
