Birth: 23 FEB 1855 Bothkennar, Stirling, Scotland

Father: CORNELIUS FERGUSON

Mother: ELIZABETH TAYLOR

!Obituary: [Burlingame newspaper, August 1931] -- Mrs. Neal Hotchkiss, Sr. Passes after Lingering Illness --

!P: Funeral services for Mrs. Cornelius Hotchkiss, Sr. who died at her home in Burlingame about noon Sunday, August 23, following several weeks of suffering from heart trouble, were held at the Presbyterian church at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon conducted by Rev. E. C. Wolters, pastor. Music was furnished by the Presbyterian choir. Interment was in the family lot in the Burlingame cemetery.

!P: Christina Ferguson was born at Stirlingshire, Scotland, February 23, 1856. She grew to womanhood at Stirlingshire and there was married to Cornelius Hotchkiss, December 31, 1878. To this union nine children were born, all of whom survive her and 8 were present at her funeral. She gave unstintedly of wifely devotion to their home life and during a married life of 52 years she was never absent from her home and husband more than one or two nights.

!P: In 1880 Mrs. Hotchkiss came to America with her husband and one child and lived for a time in Pennsylvania. Then the family came on to the new West, to Osage county and Burlingame where she has since resided with most of her family about her.

!P: In early girlhood she united with the Presbyterian church of Scotland and she has always remained loyal to that faith. She loved the fine things of life, and was fond of music, birds, poetry, and flowers. Her husband preceded her in death March 31, 1930.

!P: She leaves to mourn her passing four daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Jones and Mrs. Anna Henderson of Burlingame, Mrs. Margaret Hastings of Scranton, Kansas, Mrs. Christine Conners of Chicago; five sons, Edward, Cornelius, William, Thomas, and Alexander of Burlingame; two sisters, Mrs. Isabel Easton of Burlingame and Mrs. Jean Wilson of Scotland; also thirty-three grandchildren, and several great grandchildren, besides a host of other relatives and friends.

!P:"Weep not that her toils are over. Weep not that her race is run. God grant we shall rest as calmly, When our work like hers is done. Till then we yield with gladness Our mother to him to keep, And rejoice in sweet assurance, He giveth his loved ones sleep."
