William Hotchkiss of Williamsburg, formerly of Burlingame, died Monday morning in Ransom Memorial Hospital in Ottawa, from an abdominal gun wound received in a dispute over coal prices with W. H. Griffin of Williamsburg. The shooting occurred Saturday night at Williamsburg. Griffin is held on a murder charge. The original charge was manslaughter.

William Hotchkiss was born in Burlingame, Kansas February 2, 1886, the son of Neal Hotchkiss, Sr. and Christina Hotchkiss. He grew to manhood here and with the exception of a few years had made Burlingame his home. For the most of his life he had been employed in the coal mines and at the time of his death was running a strip mine at Williamsburg.
During the World War he served some time in the Navy and was stationed at Mare Island, California.

Both his father and mother preceded him in death. He is survived by four brothers, Edward, Neal, Jr., Thomas and Sandy, all of Burlingame; four sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Jones and Mrs. Anna Henderson of Burlingame; Mrs. Margaret Hastings of Scranton; and Mrs. Christina Conners of New York City; and many other relatives.

Funeral services were held at the home in Burlingame at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon conducted by Rev. E. C. Wolters. Burial was in the Burlingame Cemetery.
