After working on his car all day, he and Blanche went out to eat. He died in route. - Obituary: - DRIVER DIES AT WHEEL OF AUTO Heart Attack Fatal To Man, 59: Wife Averts Crash - Conrad Kemmerling, 59, 1439 Blaisdell street, dies suddenly while driving his automobile on North Rockton avenue, near Auburn street, shortly before 4:30 o’clock yesterday afternoon. Cause of death, authorities believed, was a heart attack. - An accident was averted when Kemmerling’s wife, riding with him in the front seat, acted quickly as he slumped over the steering wheel, police reported. Mrs. Kemmerling twisted the wheel as the car headed for a post, and managed to apply the brakes and stall the motor. Coroner David Klontz said no inquest would be held. - Complained Of Pain - Officers Steiner Peterson and Richard DeCamp, who investigated, said it was reported that only a few minutes before his death Kemmerling had complained of a pain in the region of his heart. Mrs. Kemmerling offered to drive, but her husband said he was all right. Kemmerling’s death occurred shortly after he and Mrs. Kemmerling had left their home to drive to a restaurant for dinner. - Kemmerling was born July 31, 1882, at Mineral Point, Wis. He was married Feb. 9, 1910, and had resided in Rockford for 25 years. He had been an employe of the Burd Piston Ring company for 23 years. - Three Children Survive Besides his widow, Blanche Mae, he leaves two daughters, Mrs. Dolores Snyder, 426 North Central avenue and Mrs. Gladys Stonewall, of the same address; a son, Robert Donald Kemmerling at home and a grandchild. - Funeral arrangements will be made at the McAliister-Julian funeral home, 304 North 5th street. - Conrad married Blanche HARRIS-[514] [MRIN:126], daughter of Samuel HARRIS-[466] and Addie ____________-[467], in 1910 in Mineral Point, Iowa County, Wisconsin.[34] Blanche was born on 31 Aug 1893 in Mineral Point, Iowa County, Wisconsin and died on 12 Sep 1983 in Titusville, Fla. 35 at age 90.
