OSAGE CITY - Elmer Lee Johnson, 87, Osage City, died Sun., Jan 2, 1994, at a local nursing home where he had been for less than a week.

-

He was born Dec. 1, 1906, in Stonehurst, Ill., the son of John Ludwig "Lute" and Ellen Anderson Johnson. He spent most of his life farming northwest of Osage City.

Mr. Johnson had been instrumental in organizing Rural Fire District No. 2 and Rural Water District No. 7, both in Osage County. He had been in charge of the livestock segment of the Osage County Fair 30 years and had been a Grant Township trustee.

He attended the Church of Christ in Osage City.

He was married to Lelia Pearl Chelf on Mar. 7, 1928, in Topeka. She survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Lyle Johnson, Torrence, Calif., and Gary Johnson, Manhattan; a brother Bennie Johnson, Osage City; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Crable Funeral Chapel in Osage City. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Osage City.
