Cornelius was born in 1896 in Skinflats, Bothkennar, Stirlingshire, Scotland, the son of Charles Wilson and Jeanie Ferguson.
His wife was Polly Ferguson, who he married in ABT 1917. The place has not been found. Their three known children were Cornelius (c1918-?), James (c1920-?) and Fergus (c1922-?).
