George was born in 1820 in Parkhead, the son of Thomas Jaap and Isabella Menzies.
He died on 14 FEB 1891 in Tollcross.
His wife was Janet Winning, who he married on 6 APR 1845 in Tollcross. Their five known children were Jaap (c1847-<1855), Martha (1852->1893), Janet (1854-1893), Thomas (1855-1856) and Isabella (1857-?).
