Daniel was born about 1780, the son of Joseph Sharp and Jean Russel. The place is not known.
His wife was Margaret Anderson, who he married in ABT 1805 in Stirlingshire, Scotland. Their ten known children were Joseph (1806-?), Jeanie (c1810-?), John (c1812-?), Daniel (c1815-1872), Mary (c1817-?), William (c1820-?), Elisabeth (c1822-?), James (1825-?), Helen (c1827-?) and Cecilia (c1830-?).

!Notes: If we have all of Daniel's children, and he used the Scottish naming pattern, then his father should be named Joseph, and his mother's name should be Mary, unless his wife's mother and his mother both shared the name Jean. Since there was no child named Margaret, perhaps Mary was actually named after her mother Margaret. In that case Margaret's mother could have been Jean, Jane, Janet, Margaret, or Mary. Since Daniel lived in Clackmannan and Falkirk, those would be the first places we would look.
