!Hello Heather! This is the first time I have actually found someone listing my direct ancestors!! Richard & Janet [Gilchrist] Hotchkis are my great-grandparents. their son Michael [born 1889] married a Northamptonshire girl and after living near her home, they moved near to his before finally deciding to settle in Rugby [home of the game!] where they are both buried. They had one daughter and three surviving sons. John Gilchrist Hotchkiss was born in 1894 and was killed in WW1. My family line is slightly larger than the list in your message, and may be of interest: Cornelius Hodgecas = Janet Stewart & had 2 sons: 1] Richard Hodgecas bp 19-5-1782 @@@ Airth 2] possibly Cornelius bp 12-3-1797 @@@ Airth

!Grandad Michael [who we alsways called "Pop"] said some of his sisters went to America after they married, but I haven't determined who, or if this is just family legend. My dad remembers a cousin called Etta who would be born in the 1920s but he never gave her surname. It's too late to ask him now. He died in 2000. That's one of the reasons I am tracking his side of the family at present, and any new information will be gratefully received. I have also gathered information on other Hotchkis[s] families along the way!
