ANNE HATTON Female

Christening: 20 FEB 1703 Madeley, Telford, Shropshire, England

Father: JOHN HATTON

Mother: BLANCH

!Notes: Ann’s most likely birthdate should be about 1710 +-5 years. Her children were born 1735 - 1750 over a 15 year period. A stretched maximum age range for children is 12-48. So, the maximum birth range for Anne is: 1703 - 1723. There are two possible Christening’s listed, each at a far extreme of this range. While the 1703 seems possible and indeed likely, the 1723 seems unlikely even then. Another possibility would be that Ann could have been a widow and Hatton was her married name. Say Ann was 46 at the birth of her last child. Then Ann would have been 30 when she was married to Edward. She could conceivably have been previously married as early as 16, which would have been 1720, which would tie her to the only Hatton to Ann marriage in Madeley at the time, which was to Cornelius Hatton. This would also be an interesting origin for the family use of the name Cornelius. However, this marriage doesn’t seem to have existed, although there was a Cornelius Hatton who married an Ann Wilson at the much too early date of 1708 a considerable distance off in Bishops Castle. That marriage though, could have accounted for all the Cornelius Hatton references, which leaves this as an unlikely scenario.
