Notes

Note 1

!Note: Probable son of John Hotchkiss of York , a merchant and freeman of the city. Giles appears in Southwark, Surrey, in 1501 as a witness to the will of Thomas Benet, and is the only recorded man of that name in the region during the period. His estimated birth aligns closely with John’s known presence in York and his eldest son John the baker, suggesting Giles was a younger son who followed similar trade or civic duties.
