Notes

Note 1

!StyleName: Hotchkiss, Arthur of London [~1578 - ~1644]

!Note: Arthur Hotchkiss of London [ ~1578 - ~1644] appears both in London pewterers’ records and in Shropshire parish and land records [Prees, Whixall], with most of his children baptized in Shropshire. This reflects a dual base typical of successful tradesmen maintaining family and property in their home county while conducting business in London. The family had many child deaths likely because of Plague. This may have influenced him to keep his family away from London as much as possible.

[see images attached] This means everyone on the pedegree was born and/or married by 1634. Arthur is in the visitation as are all his younger brothers and sisters, including that they are already married.

Note: At this point, Arthur is the only Hotchkiss with any kind of actual source record in Nottinhamshire. He has a connection to the location of Worksop, Nottinghamshire which is about 17.58 miles from Oxton, Nottinghamshire, in that he took an apprentice from there. This record is really to early for any date in his time range, so perhaps the connection actually came from his father or even grandfather and this date range would fit them.
