Frederick was born on 9 DEC 1753 in West Simsbury, Connecticut, the son of Ezekiel Humphrey and Elizabeth Pettibone.

He died in 1821. The place is not known.

He had two marriages/partners. His first wife was Ruth Tuller. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their ten known children were Frederick (1775-1830), Isaac (1777-1856), Alexander (1779-1830), Ruth (1783-?), Rufus (1786-1859), Sylvester (1788-1859), Romanta (1788-1859), Zada (1790-1822), Fanny (1793-?) and Correl (1795-1835).

His second wife was Sarah Case. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. They had no known children.

!Notes: Settled in the north-western part of Avon, Connecticut, known as Whortleberry Hill. In 1789 moved to what became Collinsvile, Connecticut. He became the owner of about 4/5 of the land on both sides of the river, where the village now stands. In 1792 he and his brother Colonel George Humphrey built an iron forge. It was damaged by the floods of 1801 and finally washed away by the floods of 1804. He served as Captain in the war with England, and was a representative to the General Assembly from Canton in 1812, October session, with James Humphrey, Esq. He was described as a large, strong man with a good heart.
