Comments: I was born and raised in NE Ohio. Family lore has it that 4 brothers came from New Guilford Connecticut to Northeastern Ohio (the Western Reserve) to farm. I see in the military section that Henry Hotchkiss, my great, great grandfather served in the Civil War. I would love to connect with my branch of the family. You have reunions?
Admin reply: I think you most likely belong to the Samuel line out of Connecticut. Contact these folks. Yes, they have reunions. http://www.hotchkissfamily.org/

Comments: Naturally I like your website, however you need to take a look at the spelling on quite a few of your posts. Many of them are rife with spelling problems and I find it very troublesome to inform you. On the other hand Ill definitely come back again!
Admin reply: Note with regard to spelling on Hotchkisclan.org "posts". Please note that I suspect most of what you are calling posts are actually meticulous notes copied from the references sited. In such case I normally keep the original spellings as these may be important to research. Please note that especially prior to the 1900's very few people could even read and write, yet alone spell. Spelling was almost exclusively by sound rather than as in the dictionary. Thus the older the reference the less likely anything is to match up with modern spelling rules.
