This is an interesting site. I was promted by lookkng at a visitors book at an organisation I was visiting in St Helens Merseyside and saw that just about 8 names above me was someone called Julie Hotchkiss. I have never come across anyone in the area with the same surname as mine. I have met one person in Nottingham but that is all.

Interesting, Rhonda in Seattle states she is descended from William. The photo you have of his gravesite is of my father and mother, James Hotchkiss and Hazel Anstaett Hotchkiss.
Also one of Mom and Aunt Christine. My grandfather was a brother of William and Cornelius.
We have lots of similar info. Dad always referred to Cornelius as Uncle Neal.

Using Spanish convention, which post-pends maternal surname.
GM: Edith Grace HOTCHKISS Wright (1903-2007);
GGF: Alfred Edmund HOTCHKISS Brown (1875-1943);
2GGF: Edmund Kershaw HOTCHKISS Kershaw (1848-1923);
3GGF: John HOTCHKISS (c.1828-????).
Suspect the latter was son of George Hotchkiss and Eleanor Brooke.
All of the above were born in England, mostly circa Birmingham.

My grandmother was Helen Hotchkiss, daughter of Edwin, her great grandfather was Lyman T Hotchkiss son of Fowler and Susan Munson, I'm looking for the rest of the clan.
