He died in 1878 in Kings Norton, Worcestershire, England.
His wife was Ann Blamey, who he married on 24 JUN 1844 in St.. David's, Exeter, England. Their six known children were William (c1845-1901), Henry (c1848-1927), Caroline (1850-?), Emily (c1854-?), George (1858-?) and Phillip (c1864-?).
