!Notes: Graduated from 8th grade -- 23 May 1935. Completed Nurses Assistant Course -- 2 Feb, 1978. Alice and James cared for their grandchildren Rex, and David Hotchkiss as well as Steve Rinker for many years. Rex Jr. in particular spent all but four of his childhood years after the age of 7 with them, and they became his guardians.

Mrs Hotchkiss was a member of Grace Lutheran Church at Osage City. She married James A. Hotchkiss on Feb. 8, 1936, at Topeka. He died Jan. 14, 1991.

Survivors include two sons, Rex J. Hotchkiss, Los Angeles [La Crescenta], Calif. and Arthur J. Hotchkiss, Avila Beach, Calif,; three sisters, Anietta Bowlin and Doris Sherman, both of Osage City, and Helen Schmersey, Cupertino, Calif.; Two brothers, Andrew Woolery, Osage City, and August Woolery, Lyndon; six grandchildren, and seven [eight] great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Grace Lutheran Church at Osage City. Burial will be at Burlingame Cemetery at Curlingame. Mrs. Hotchkiss will lie in state from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Carey Funeral Home at Burlingame.
