!Notes: Monday 7 Feb 2005 at 10:58 CST Barbara Anne Norman nee Keane passed away at the hospital in Rockford, Illinois. She feel and injured herself on 31 Jan 2005, then the next morning in the hospital, she got up at 4am and fell again. At this point she went into a coma. She never recovered. It turned out that she died of a hear valve failure.

!Obituary: Rockford Register Star, and funeral program Barbara Anne Norman, 70 - Loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister - ROCKFORD -- Barbara Anne [Keane] Norman, 70, of Rockford, passed away on Monday evening, Feb. 7, 2005, at Rockford Memorial Hospital. She was born on Jan. 28, 1935, in Oak Park, the daughter of Dr. John and Margaret [McGillis] Keane. Barbara was member of the 1953 graduating class at Oak Park Trinity High School. She went on to attend Marquette University where she met her husband, Bernard. The couple was married on Oct. 20, 1956, at St.. Giles Catholic Church in Oak Park. Barbara was formerly a member of St.. Patrick Catholic Church where she was a member of the choir and most recently a member of the Cathedral of St.. Peter Catholic Church where she was active in St.. Anne's Altar & Rosary Society. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who enjoyed walking, singing and attending concerts. Barbara was an excellent cook and homemaker, as well as charcoal artist. She was a wonderful and warm person who will long be remembered for her thoughtfulness and compassion. She is survived by her husband, Bernard of Rockford; children, Jane [Rex Jr.] Hotchkiss of Antioch, Calif., John Norman of DeKalb, Hugh Norman, Eileen [Michael] Ribordy of Glenview, Patrick [Carla] Norman of Washington D.C, and Mark [Carla] Norman of Springfield; grandchildren, Sarah and Eric Hotchkiss of Antioch, Calif., Lauren, Katherine and Anne Ribordy of Glenview, Christopher and Andrew Norman of Washington, D.C., Riley Maitret of Springfield; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Phyllis [Cecil] Grissom of Stringer, Miss., William Cahill of Glen Ellyn, James Keane of Charlotte, N.C., Don Kuelper of Rockford and John Kuelper of Fort Myers, Fla.; good friends, Bonnie Capriola and Mary Ann Lynch, both of Rockford; and numerous nieces & nephews. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Frances Mary Cahill and Margaret Catherine Doody; brothers and sisters in-law: Sue Keane, John Doody, Kathryn [James] Waugh and Patricia [Thomas] Jager; and aunt, Frances "EE" McGillis. - A visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, in the Cathedral of St.. Peter Catholic Church, 1243 N. Church St.., Rockford, with Funeral Mass immediately afterward at 11 a.m.; the Rev. Kenneth Wasilewski will be officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Memorials to Rockford Rescue Mission or Barbara Olson Center of Hope. Fitzgerald Funeral Home is assisting the family.
