In the name of god, Amen. the xi day of January In the year of the lord god 1
thousand five hundred fiftie one and in the fourth yere of Edward vi
year of god beyng of England France & Ireland defender of the fayth and of
the realm of England an allof Ireland in duty the supreme god. I
Hary [i.e., Henry] Hogkinson of the parish of Ashover Peyk of body & hole in mind this
may be my testament & last wyll, Item in same I bequeth my soule to almighti
god & to the blessed lady Sainte mary & to all the holy company of heaven, and my
body to be buried in the churche yard of the parish of Ashover. My finall
thanks gift gaveth to the rest of my goods I bequeath to Thomas Hogkynson
my brother my best Jackett my best duplett my best gaspe & my best shirte
Also I wyll that xx£ of my yew tripe be purified to the role & be geveth
to pfeu of my children at the syght of grace the synte. Also I wyll that
if my wyffe too mary that then she shall have half of my goods the xx£
shalnot not share w/o notice except. Also I wyll that John Hogkynson
my sone be assigned to gane a role the idenit of my lyfe Indyndr
the yeres of the leyse. Also I wyll that Ellyn my wyffe & John Hogkinson
