In the name of God Amen the second daye of November in the yeare of our Lorde God 1574 I Adam Hocchekes of Upton magna being sicke in bodie but of good and perfecte memory thankes be to God do make and ordeyne this my last will and testament in manner and forme following. First I bequeath my soule to almightie God and my bodye to be buried within the churchyard of Upton magna aforesaid.

Item I give and bequeath to Rose my wyfe one tenement in Upton magna duringe the terme of her naturall lyffe and after her decease to remayne unto Thomas my sonne.

Item I give and bequeath to Matheus my sonne one close called Brodleye and one other close in the tenure of Thomas Walton.

Item I give and bequeath to Righard my sonne one close called ... [illegible — potentially “Netherwood” or similar].

Item I give and bequeath to Margaret my daughter one cowe and one heifer and my best panne. <<<<

Item I give to Elizabeth my daughter one cowe and one brasse potte.

Item I give to Jone my daughter one cowe and one panne and one spytt and a table borde in the hall.

Item I give and bequeath to Rose my wyfe all the reste of my goodes movable and unmovable not geven nor bequeathed to bringe up my children withall and she to be my sole executrix.
