Matthew was born about 1465 in Kent, England, the son of Thomas Hawkins but his mother is unknown.
He had two marriages/partners. His first wife was Alice. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their two known children were Thomas (c1500-1588) and Adam (c1502-?).
His second wife was Elizabethe, who he married in ABT 1503. The place has not been found. Their two known children were Agnes (c1503-c1529) and Katheryn (c1505-?).
