Biography

Thomas Hawkins b ca 1610 , son of William born 1587 .[citation needed]

He married Elizabeth Lucas, daughter of Thomas Lucas possibly who brought him to America.[citation needed]

He was married at least twice and in his will he mentioned diamond rings and pearl necklaces.[citation needed]

Thomas and Elizabeth had two sons: Thomas[1] and John.

Thomas received land grants on the upper Rappahannock River[2] near his father-in-law, Thomas Lucas. He was active in the country's affairs and was called Col. Thomas Lucas. He was involved in the Bacon Rebellion and was jailed for a time. Probably from his father's and uncle's freebooting days.[citation needed]

He came to Virginia in 1619 on his father's ship "James" and settled on New Poquoson River in York County, Virginia, over against James City. Thomas was an original grantee for the Jamestown Settlement.In Virginia he was a member of the House of Burgesses, in the Militia and active in the new Colony of Virginia. [3]

Thomas died in 1646 in Jamestown.[citation needed]
