Biography

Richard Pryse of Gogerddan, Llanbadarnfawr, Cardiganshire, oldest son of John Pryse by his first wife, Elizabeth Perrot, married Gwen ferch Thomas ap Rhys ap Morus of Aberbechan, Newtown, Montgomeryshire. Gwen was born about 1562.[1]

His marriage to Gwen "extended his interests into that shire, and he added to his estate lands and mills near his wife’s home at Newtown." He served as sheriff of Montgomeryshire in 1590-1, but "his principal focus was Cardiganshire."[1]

Richard and Gwen had two sons and five daughters.[1]

John Lewis married Bridget Pryse, the eldest daughter of Sir Richard Pryse of Gogerddan. [2][3]

Richard and Gwen's son Sir John Pryse "of Aberbechan" married Mary ferch Sir Henry Bromley, Knt. John and Mary's children were Sir Richard Price, Knt., who married Ester ferch Hugh Middleton; Elizabeth Stepton; and Mary, who married James Jones.[4]
