David was born on 30 OCT 1833 in Yorkshire, New York, the son of Jirah Phinney and Mary Marila Hollister.
His wife was Sarah Ann Conklin. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their three known children were George Hollister (1855-1917), Willis Edgar (1860-1937) and Chester Albert (1869-1870).
