Clinton was born on 30 NOV 1791 in Williamsburg, Massachusetts, the son of David Phinney and Judith Nash.
He died on 21 FEB 1861 in Chester, Ohio.
He had two marriages/partners. His first wife was Polly Temple, who he married in 1814 in Shelburne, Massachusetts. Their five known children were Roxanna Climene (1815-?), Almerin Temple (1817-1860), Mary Jane (1820-1849), Cornelia Ann (1822-1854) and Louisa Temple (1827-1861).
His second wife was Mercy Whitman, who he married on 18 JAN 1828 in Cazenovia, New York. Their four known children were Clinton Isaiah (1828-1860), William Barzillai (1830-?), Alfred Galusha (1833-?) and Chloe Elizabeth (1835-?).
