His wife was Jesse A. Lamb, who he married on 16 MAR 1879. The place has not been found. Their three known children were Leo Dobbs (1881-1936), Charles Gaylord (1886-1967) and Marguirette (1891-1972).

!Notes: In 1895, James Eber Hyde purchased land for $12 to $37 and acre. He converted this into one of the finest cattle ranches in the area. Most of the farm was eventually taken over by the US government in 1970 for the Melvern Reservoir. At that time it was in the hands of his grandson, Ed Ward Hyde. He also established the Reading State Bank.
