!Notes: Sidwell left Wilmington, Ohio at 23 years old. During the Cival War [1861-1865] he joined the Union Army, which he later deserted. As he was traveling down the Mississippi River military police or soldiers or police came onboard the vessel. However, they only found Sidwell's clothing, and thought he had drowned. Later he turned up in the Netherlands, where he raised horses and was able to become very wealthy. He died in the Netherlands sometime between 1875 and 1893. The Netherlands Government advertised in the Kansas City paper of the will he left for the members of the family. Richmond Woolery, who lived in Kansas City, Kansas, saw the advertisement in 1919, and relayed the information to the Woolery family, which had spread from Ohio to Kansas by that time. However, by the time they tried to collect the inheritance, the Netherlands government had incorporated it into the government treasury, so that it was never collected. It is said that, although the advertisement was not seen until 1919, the family may have delayed in their attempt to collect, because they did not want to be associated with a deserter, especially as three of his brothers [George, Andrew, and Emmer] had served honorably in the war.
