Richard Fleming Hotchkiss was born the 16th of December, 1880 in Glasgow, Scotland to Richard and Agnes [Fleming] Hotchkiss. The family immigrated to the United States and spent a number of years in Ohio.

Richard married Ellen "Nellie" McCoy on the 21st of May 1906 in Billings, Montana. They had four children: Richard, Kathryn, Agnes and Warren.

An obituary was printed as well in the Capser Star Tribune on the 16 of December, 1963. It reads:

Richard F. Hotchkiss died Sunday at his home at 1330 South Washington.

He was born in Glasgow, Scotland, and at the age of five came with his family to the United States, settling in Wellsdun, Ohio.

He was reared and schooled in Wellsdun and moved to Uinta County when he was a young man. A mining engineer, he worked in Uinta County and later operated the Hotchkiss Coal Co., in Sheridan.

He retired six years ago.

He married in 1906 in Billings, Mont.

Survivors include his wife, Ellen; a daughter, Mrs. Agnes Stanton, Albuquerque, NM; two sons, Richard P., 1343 South Washington, and Warren D. Medora, ND; a sister, Mrs. Christine Williams, Sheridan; two brothers, Robert, Pomona, Calif.; and George, Denver and nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services, under the direction of the Bustard Funeral Home, are pending.
