Elizabeth was born in 1901 in Main Street, Carronshore, Stirlingshire, Scotland, the daughter of John Malcolm and Annie Hotchkiss.
She died in 1965 in Stenhousemuir, Scotland.
Her husband was Thomas Philip Paterson, who she married in 1923 in Manse, Bothkennar, Stirling, Scotland. Their four known children were Nan (c1924-?), William (1926-?), Ella (c1928-?) and Betty (c1930-?).
