!Obituary: Topeka Capital-Journal Esther Dunn Last Modified: 1:27 a.m. 10/24/2001 - Esther Elizabeth "Betty" Dunn, 95, Topeka, formerly of Burlingame, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001, at a Topeka retirement community. - Mrs. Dunn was a homemaker and worked in the state's motor vehicle planning department, in Topeka, until retiring in 1971. - She was born Jan. 6, 1906, in Burlingame, to Frank and Esther Hotchkiss Hoggins. She graduated from Burlingame High School in 1924. She lived for her entire life in Burlingame until moving to the McCrite Plaza Retirement Community in September 2000. - She married Guilliam Dunn on Sept. 3, 1924, in Burlingame. He died April 29, 1962. - Mrs. Dunn also was preceded in death by two daughters, Betty Jane Johnson and JoAnn Rine, and two great-grandsons. - Survivors include three sons, Guilliam "Gene" Dunn Jr., Topeka, Ray Dunn, Carrizozo, N.M., and Edwin Dunn, Colby; a daughter, Kay Pisle, Roundup, Mont.; a sister, Jennie Stone, Lamar, Mo.; 19 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren. - Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Burlingame Federated Church. Burial will be in the Burlingame Cemetery. Mrs. Dunn will lie in state from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Carey Funeral Home, Burlingame, where the family will meet with relatives and friends from 6 to 8 p.m. - The family suggests memorial contributions to the Burlingame Federated Church or the Burlingame First Responders.
