-- Passed Away this Morning In Topeka Hospital; Never Fully Recovered from Operatioon. --

Many in this community will regret to learn of the death of Mrs. Carl Johnson, which occured at the Stormont hospital in Topeka this [Wednesday] morning.

-

Mrs. Johnson entered the hospital a few weeks ago and unerwent a major operation and for a time seemed to be recovering satisfactorily, but later gradually became weaker until the end came.

She leaves her husband at their home south of Osage City; one daughter Violet, who is employed in Topeka; and two sons, Roy, who is serving with the armed forces overseas, and Lawrence, who is married, living south of town.

As we go to press no funeral arrangements have been made. --

Beda A. Natsem was born in Vastergotland, Sweden, April 14, 1881, and departed from this life August 30, 1944, at Stormont hospital, Topeka, Shawnee County, Kansas, having reached the age of 63 years, 4 months and 16 days.

She immigrated to the United States in 1905, arriving in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was unitied in marriage to Mr. Carl Johnson the 26th of February, 1913, and made Osage City her home until her death.

To this union were born three children; one daughter, Violet, of Topeka, Kans.; and two sons, Cpl. Roy Johnson, serving with the armed forces overseas, and Lawrence, of Osage City.

She leaves also to mourn one sister, Mrs. Adolph Johnson, and one brother, Carl Natsen, both of Osage City, having been preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, and three brothers.

She became a member of the Lutheran church in 1913, and faithfully served her God and family until the end.

Funeral services were held from the Grace Lutheran church Saturday afternoon, September 2, at 2:30 o'clock, with the Rev. Reuben Paul Kron officiating. Mr. Laurel Fager and Mrs. Albert Lundgren sang two numbers and the Rev. Kron sang a solo in the Swedish language. Mrs. Harold Fredrickson presided at the organ.

The pall bearers were Arthur Johnson and five nephews of Mrs. Johnson: Alton Lindburg, Clarence Lindburg, Raymond Lindburg, Carl Lindburg and Richard Lindburg.

Those attending the funeral from out of town were: Mr. and Mrs. Richard Johnson, of Blandinsville, Ill.; Mrs. Katherine Anderson, of Slater, Mo.; Mrs. William Patrick and Gary, of Independence, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. Ragner Lindburg and family, of Lucas, Kans.; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Trunks, of Belleville, Kans.; Mrs. Charles Kopsa, Munden, Kans.; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Lindburg, Topeka, Kans. --
