The son of my ancestors, NATHANIEL & JOAN MERRIMAN, he married Elizabeth Peck on Nov. 20, 1690 in Wallingford, Conn.

In Oct., 1698, Sarg. John Merriman & Capt. Thomas Yale were appointed to lay out land granted for Thomas Hull in Wallingford. On the same date, the Court grants to Sarg. John Merriman of Wallingford, 50 acres of land "in consideration of his fathers service in the Pequot warre".

He was appointed Lieut. of the trainband at Wallingford in October 1704. Between 1697 and 1706, he served as a deputy to the general court in Hartford for Wallingford.
