Wiliam was born on 5 SEP 1863 in Cambridgeshire, England, the son of Samuel Butler and Sarah Ann Flack.

He died on 23 OCT 1931 in Kearney, Nebraska.

His wife was Joannah Rachel Budd, who he married on 19 MAR 1887 in Shelton Nebraska. Their six known children were Jessie May (1888-1960), Harry LeRoy (1890-1921), Florence Mable (1893-1976), James Grant (1895-1978), Joseph Samuel (1897-1984) and Nellie Rachel (1903-1960).

He was origonaly burried on oct 25th 1931 in Highland Park Cemetery at Ravenna Nebraska. On November 9th 1937 his remains were moved to Keanrey City Cemetery

He came to America with his parents in 1880. In 1886 he moved to the area near Revenna. He worked

as a section hand for the Union Pacific Railroad. Hr turned to farming, Purchasing land in 1897
