!Notes: Cecil earned a Master's Degree in Education and was a teacher and principal at the elementary level. During World War II, he served with the Army Air Corps in the South Pacific. He enjoys working on home improvements.

Cecil Grissom the 2nd son and the 7th child of Ebbie Jones and Bill Grissom was born1 on 10 May 1919 in Stringer Ms. Cecil married Phyllis Elizabeth Norman, daughter of Bernard C. Norman and Marie Josephine Kennedy, on 28 Jul 1945 in St. Patrick's Rectory Rockford Ill.. Phyllis was born on 19 Sep 1921 in Rockford Ill and was baptized in 1921 in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church Rockford Ill. ,

Cecil served in the military Cpl. 578th Sig. W. Btl...13th Army Air Force2 12 Aug 1942 - 11 Nov 1945 in Pacific Theater. Cecil retired from the education field and returned to Mississippi. He settled on the old home place in Stringer, Miss. He built a home high on a hill in the middle of an old cotton field.

Cecil graduated 1st from Stringer High school, Stringer Mississippi.

2nd Mississippi College, Clinton Mississippi. He was in attendance at Mississippi College, Clinton, Mississippi. before WW II. He continued his education there on the G.I. Bill after the War. His wife Phyllis Norman attended school with him. They both earned their bachelor degree from this institute.

3rd USM...The University of Southern Mississippi at Hattiesburg Miss. He earned his Master’s degree at this school. Phyllis also earned her master’s at this school. The Dade County Florida School Board employed Cecil and Phyllis.. In order to attend “Southern” they spent their summer vacations in Hattiesburg.

4th ...He attended both the University of Miami at Miami, and Barry College Miami Shores, Fl. Cecil never applied for his Doctor's Degree, though he was well qualified to do so.

: Cecil lived with his parents before the war. When he was first married he lived in Fresno California. thence to Los Angeles, thence to Rockford Ill., thence to Clinton Mississippi.,, thence to Oak Bowery Jones County Ms. and from there to Miami Florida. After he retired he returned to Mississippi and to the family home place at Stringer Ms. He is in residence there at this time.
