!Notes: from Phyllis Grissom. Charles or Charlie was the youngest child in this family. - Uncle Charlie managed to acquire several pieces of real estate in Rockford. He rented these out. He lived on the proceeds from these properties. One such rental house was on school street. It was the 1st or 2nd house to the east of the School St. Grocery Store. This neighborhood store was just up the street going west from the Norman home on Furman St.. - Uncle Charley never married. He never worked ether. He owned several houses in Rockford. He lived off the rent that he collected. One of his houses was the first house east of School Street Grocery. This location was just west of our house at the corner of Furman and School Street. He was Mom's best companion, once she learned to drive a car.
