!Alias: Brother Barry.

!Notes: Attended Epiphany Elemenatary School in Detroit, Michigan, and graduated from St.. Leo High School, Detroit, in 1948. Leo served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1954. He was stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany as a fireman.

!P: He was a professional photographer, organizing and running photo labs for profit in his younger years, turning his hobby to profit. He also worked for Cuncan Yo-Yo from 1948 to 1951.

!P: In 1956 Leo entered the Maryknoll Foreign Missionary Society and began his education and training as a religious brother, taking the name of Brother Barry. He served as a missionary in Cochabamba, Bolivia from 1964 to 1978, when he suffered a heart attach and stroke which affected his speach. After an excellent recovery, he returned to his mission work in Bolivia, this time in the lowland jungle area of Santa Cruz. However, because of his health, he was unable to withstand the extreme weather conditions there, and returned to Maryknoll, New York, in June 1980, where he worked with Spanish speaking immigrants in the Bronx.
