Albert was born in 1841 in Chardon, Geauga Co., Ohio, the son of Hiram Phinney and Sophronia Baldwin.
His wife was Lavina Walker. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their three known children were Effie Martha (1866-1923), Lulu Bell (1871-?) and Bernice (1876-1932).
