Calvin was born on 30 APR 1809 in Lee, Massachusetts, the son of Sylvanus Phinney and Lucy Kingsley.
He died on 7 MAY 1870 in Dover, Ohio.
He had two marriages/partners. His first wife was Emeline Martin, who he married on 19 AUG 1834 in Cuyahoga Co., Ohio. Their five known children were Angeanette (1835-1880), Sylvanus Edward (1838-1934), Sylvester A. (c1842-1916), Sanford (c1844-1862) and Ella Martin (1852-1924).
His second wife was Rachel Brown, who he married in SEP 1852. The place has not been found. Their four known children were Joseph Sanford (1854-?), Alberto Calvin (c1856-1920), Emma (1858-1925) and Lucy E. (1860-1911).
