Henry was born about 1792, the son of Elisha Finney and Polly Sturges. The place is not known.
His wife was Mary Woodbridge Howell. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their four known children were Harry Brougham (c1812-?), Dudley S. (c1814-?), Charles Mayhew (c1816-?) and Jessie Ray (c1818-1908).
