Solomon was born in 1773 in Plymouth, Massachusetts, the son of Sylvanus Finney and Mary Morton.

He died in 1846 in New Plymouth, Ohio.

His wife was Parience Churchill, who he married on 7 OCT 1797 in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Their six known children were Solomon (1798-1864), Sylvanus (1800-1868), Harvey (1803-1840), Alvin (1807-?), John (1811-?) and Joseph (c1813-?).
