Josiah was born about 1774 in Plymouth, Massachusetts, the son of Robert Finney and Lydia Clark.
He had two marriages/partners. His first wife was Rebecca Warren, who he married on 26 AUG 1791 in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Their five known children were Nancy (1792-1792), Nancy (1793-?), Sally (1795-?), Betsey (1797-?) and George (1800-1842).
His second wife was Sally Sylvester, who he married in ABT 1807. The place has not been found. Their four known children were Josiah Morton (1808-1809), Joseph Sylvester (1808-1809), Josiah Thomas (1814-?) and Nathaniel Sylvester (1815-?).
