He died before 1851. The place is not known.

His wife was Barbara Laird, who he married in ABT 1804. The place has not been found. Their ten known children were Alexander (1805-1873), Mary (1806-?), Barbara (c1807-?), Elizabeth (1810-?), David (1812-1851), James (1814-?), George (1817-1883), John (1819-?), Jean (1825-?) and Farquar (1822-1890).
