O’Brien, age 65, formerly of Janesville, died on Friday, Aug. 5, 2005 at Howard Young Medical Center, Woodruff, WI. She was born in Mineral Point, WI on April 21, 1940, the daughter of Raymond J. and Jane [Mick] Roether. She graduated from Mineral Point High School in 1958. Rita married Michael J. O’Brien in St.. Mary’s Catholic Church, Mineral Point on Oct. 1, 1960. She retired from O’Brien Accounting, Janesville and later she enjoyed doing secretarial work at Camp American Legion in Lake Tomahawk. She loved each of her grandchildren dearly and loved to spend time with them. Rita enjoyed snowmobile trips in Northern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan with friends, overnight trips to the Casino, card playing and her Mah-jongg Club. She was a member of the New Tom Snow Fleas, World Musky Hunt Secretary & Treasurer for many years until 2002 and was on the board of directors for the World Musky Hunt until the present time. Rita is survived by her loving husband, Michael J. O’Brien of Lake Tomahawk; 4 sons: Michael [Amy] O’Brien of Colorado Springs, CO, Dan [Carolyn] O’Brien of Whitewater, Pat O’Brien and Sean O’Brien both of Janesville; daughter, Sheila [Eric] Kane of Janesville; 15 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; her mother, Jane Roether of Lake Geneva; 2 brothers, Gene Roether of Lake Geneva and Michael [Debbie] Roether of Burlington; and many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and granddaughter, Natalie K. O’Brien. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Mon., Aug. 8, 2005 at St.. John Vianney Catholic Church with Fr. Donn Heiar officiating. Friends may call on Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME and again on Monday from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the church. I now soar high above, for I have earned my Angel wings. So do not shed a tear, I have lived a happy life down here.
