Thomas was born on 15 FEB 1838 in Scotland, the son of Thomas Ferguson and Christian Hotchkiss.
He had two marriages/partners. His first wife was Jane Gray, who he married on 27 FEB 1871 in Airth, Stirlingshire, Scotland. Their seven known children were Alexander Gray (1871-1942), Agnes Greig (1873-1955), William (1877-1957), Charles Laird (1879-1911), James Wightman (1881-1968), Christina Hotchkis (1884-1901) and Andrew Gray (1887-1914).
His second wife was Catherine Taylor, who he married on 25 APR 1858 in Kinnaird, Larbert, Stirlingshire, Scotland. Their six known children were Isabella Graham (1858-1928), Thomas (1860-1861), Thomas (1862-1942), Cornelius (1864-1946), Robert Taylor (1864-1919) and Christina Hotchkis (1867-1868).
